Shetland Starling

The local race of the common Starling 'zetlandicus' breeds throughout Shetland and Fair Isle.  The birds are almost identical to the birds breeding in the rest of Britain, although there is meant to be a slightly longer bill in  'zetlandicus' birds.  It is more to do with the juvenile birds being quite dark that make this race distinctive.
